  1. What is the purpose of the HBCU Tour?
    The tour exposes high school juniors and seniors to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Students will experience campus life, meet college reps, and explore the academic and cultural legacy of HBCUs helping them make informed college decisions.
     

  2. Who is eligible to participate?

    1. ​Male high school juniors and seniors who:

      • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5

      • Show a strong interest in attending college

      • Can attend the full 7-day tour

      • Are based in the DC, MD, VA (DMV) area or can depart from Los Angeles, CA (First generation students strongly perferred)
         

  3. Which HBCUs will we visit?

    1. Atlanta, GA: Morehouse, Spelman, Clark Atlanta

    2. Huntsville, AL: Oakwood, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Tuskegee

    3. Maryland & DC: Bowie State, Morgan State, Howard
       

  4. What is the total cost of the tour?
    The cost is approximately $2,500 per student (subject to change).
    ​Includes:

    1. Round-trip airfare (from L.A. or Atlanta)

    2. Ground transportation

    3. Hotel accommodations

    4. Meals

    5. Campus tours

    6. Group travel insurance

    7. Chaperone supervision

    8. Payment plans and limited scholarships may be available.
       

  5. Are sponsorship or fundraising options available?
    Yes! Students can request a sponsorship letter and participate in optional group fundraising efforts.
     

  6. How are students supervised?
    Students are supervised by trained, background-checked chaperones with experience in youth travel, education, and college access programs. Safety is our top priority.
     

  7. What’s the student experience like on the tour?
    ​Students will:

    1. Attend college tours and info sessions

    2. Engage with faculty and students

    3. Join group reflections and workshops

    4. Visit local landmarks

    5. Travel and connect with college-minded peers
       

  8. What should students pack?
    A full list will be shared, but key items include:

    1. Comfortable walking shoes

    2. Casual and business-casual attire

    3. White collared shirt and tie (for some events)

    4. Government-issued photo ID

    5. Toiletries and medication

    6. Spending money for souvenirs/snacks

    7. A winter coat, hat, and gloves
       

  9. What are the behavior expectations?
    ​Students must:

    1. Be respectful, mature, and on time

    2. Stay with the group and follow safety protocols

    3. Use appropriate language

    4. Follow curfew and room assignments

    5. Avoid public displays of affection and inappropriate behavior

    6. Stay within designated areas

    7. Refrain from using alcohol, weed, drugs, or tobacco
       

  10. Can students bring phones or electronics?
    Yes, but devices must not disrupt the group or tours. Headphones are allowed during travel but must be removed when staff is speaking. Navicore is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
     

  11. What are the consequences for rule violations?
    Depending on the offense:

    1. Minor: Warnings or loss of privileges

    2. Moderate: Behavior notice, parent contact, probation

    3. Major: Immediate removal from tour (at family’s expense), no refund, and possible school referral
       

  12. How do I apply or save my spot?
    Complete the online application, upload ID, and pay a deposit. Spots are limited and filled first-come, first-served.
     

  13. Who can I contact for help or more info?

  14. Is there an application deadline?
    Yes. All applications, permission slips (if under 18 years old) and deposits must be submitted by the stated deadline to secure a spot. Late submissions may not be accepted due to limited space.
     

  15. Is academic performance considered?
    Yes. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. We also consider a student's interest in college and readiness to participate in a structured group experience.
     

  16. Can parents join the tour?
    No. This is a student-only tour with trained chaperones. Parents can attend an info session before departure and will receive regular updates during the trip.
     

  17. Is this trip open to female students?
    This fall tour is specifically designed for male students. Navicore Partners may offer additional future tours that are co-ed or female-focused.
     

  18. What are the sleeping arrangements?
    Students will share hotel rooms with same-gender roommates assigned by staff. No co-ed rooms are permitted. Room changes require staff approval.
     

  19. Can I request a roommate?
    Yes. Roommate requests can be submitted in advance, but we cannot guarantee all requests will be honored.
     

  20. How will I know if I’ve been accepted?
    Accepted students will receive a confirmation email with next steps, including a packing list, itinerary, and parent meeting details.
     

  21. What happens if I miss a payment deadline?
    Missing a payment deadline may result in losing your reserved spot. Please contact us immediately if you need help staying on track.
     

  22. Are deposits refundable?
    Deposits are non-refundable, as funds are used to secure airfare, hotel, and other travel expenses in advance.
     

  23. Will students receive tour apparel?
    Yes. Each participant will receive official Navicore Partners tour apparel to wear during designated events and group photos.
     

  24. Can I bring snacks?
    Yes, snacks are allowed during travel. However, meals will be provided daily, and students should not bring large quantities of food.
     

  25. Is there a code of conduct?
    Yes. All students must follow the Trip Guidelines regarding behavior, dress code, safety, and respect for others. Violations may lead to removal from the tour.
     

  26. What if a student gets sick or injured?
    Staff will follow emergency procedures. Parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. Travel insurance may assist with coverage if needed.
     

  27. What kind of meals are provided?
    Students will receive three meals a day, with dietary restrictions and preferences considered when possible.
     

  28. Will there be free time?
    Yes, students will have limited supervised free time in safe areas. Participation depends on behavior and punctuality during scheduled events.
     

  29. What is the expected behavior during college visits?
    Students should be attentive, respectful, and engaged during all campus sessions. This is a chance to make strong first impressions.
     

  30. Can I participate if I’ve never traveled before?
    Yes! Many of our students are first-time travelers. Our staff offers full support to make sure you feel comfortable and confident throughout the trip.
     

  31. Are students allowed to leave the group?
    No. Students must remain with the group unless given permission by a chaperone for specific activities or emergencies.
     

  32. Is there a curfew?
    Yes. All students must be in their assigned rooms by the designated curfew time each night. Room checks will be conducted.
     

  33. How should students prepare for the tour?
    Students should review the itinerary, attend all pre-tour meetings, pack appropriately, and come ready to learn, engage, and grow.
     

  34. How does the tour support college readiness?
    Through visits, workshops, peer interaction, and exposure to college life, students gain the tools, knowledge, and confidence to pursue higher education.
